Wisconsin Chekhov Project

WISCONSIN CHEKHOV PROJECT

The Wisconsin Chekhov Project (WCP) is a four-year initiative reimagining Anton Chekhov's four enduring masterpieces, bringing them to life with fresh energy and a distinctly Wisconsin perspective - Uncle Vanya, The Seagull, The Three Sisters, and The Cherry Orchard. By weaving Chekhov's poignant exploration of human nature with the unique essence of Wisconsin's culture, this project reimagines these iconic works through a distinctly Midwestern lens.

The project will culminate in 2029 with a captivating, site-specific performance of The Cherry Orchard, set amidst the breathtaking beauty of a Door County cherry orchard.

Through this project, WCP aims to create more than just performances; it seeks to establish a cornerstone of artistic identity for Wisconsin, blending Chekhov’s universal themes with the local spirit. Each production will stand as a testament to the enduring relevance of Chekhov’s works while fostering a profound connection between art and the vibrant communities of Milwaukee and beyond.
