At Wisconsin Classic Stage, we breathe new life into timeless and contemporary works by reimagining them through a bold Midwestern lens. We define “classic theater” as works from any culture, tradition, or era that resonate across generations and speak powerfully to the present moment. Guided by purpose, precision, and presentation, we craft striking theatrical compositions that defy expectations, spark conversation, and linger in the hearts of our patrons long after the curtain falls.
Every dollar defies expectations
Wisconsin Classic Stage recognizes and honors the Indigenous peoples who have called this land home for generations. The state now known as Wisconsin is home to the largest number of Native American tribes east of the Mississippi River, comprising 11 sovereign Tribal nations, each governed by its own constitution: Bad River Ojibwe, Forest County Potawatomi, Ho-Chunk, Lac Courte Oreilles Band of Ojibwe, Lac du Flambeau Band of Lake Superior Chippewa, Menominee Nation, Mole Lake Sokaogan Chippewa, Oneida Nation, Red Cliff Band of Ojibwe, St. Croix Band of Ojibwe, and Stockbridge-Munsee Band of Mohicans. No matter where you stand in Wisconsin, you are on the ancestral land of a Tribal nation. WCS encourages everyone to reflect on the history of this land and to recognize the enduring past, present, and future contributions of Indigenous communities. At Wisconsin Classic Stage, we believe theater should be for everyone. Our commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion is woven into everything we do—
from the stories we tell to the spaces we create.
WE STRIVE TO:
Theater has the power to connect, challenge, and inspire.
At WCS, we are committed to making that power accessible to all.
